Nuclear medicine progress in Bangladesh celebrated at BAEC


A scientific seminar titled ‘Advances in Nuclear Medicine in Bangladesh: A Journey of More than Four Decades’ was held at the Dr. Anwar Hossain Auditorium at the Head Office on Thursday, 16 October 2025. Honorable Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Md. Anwar Hossain was present as the chief guest at the seminar. The program was presided over by the Chairman of the Commission Dr. Md. Mojibur Rahman. Renowned scientists, physicians, educationists and policymakers of the country were also present. Commission member, Physical Science Dr. Debashish Pal delivered the welcome speech at the program. President Dr. Md. Mojibur Rahman, Chairman BAPSHAK expressed gratitude to all concerned for organizing the seminar successfully.

He praised the Secretary's scientific mind and highlighted various problems of scientists and requested for immediate solutions. He sought the ministry's attention and cooperation in implementing necessary development projects, increasing manpower, setting up a high-power research reactor, and resolving various complications in importing radioactive raw materials for the further progress of various institutions in the Commission. Mr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, in his speech expressed concern about the increasing cancer disease and called for increasing the scope of the Commission's research and service work.

Highlighting the positive attitude of the ministry in this regard, he emphasized the importance of presenting a specific plan on the part of the Commission to remove the limitations. In the main part of the program, a total of 4 scientific articles were presented on the history of nuclear medicine in Bangladesh, current diagnosis and treatment methods, the role of radioisotopes in this, and the future plans of the Commission in this regard. Finally, the program ended with a lively open discussion with the participation of expert panelists.
