WHO: Ebola therapeutics trials to begin in DRC next week
The World Health Organization said Wednesday that trials of two separate therapeutic treatments to fight the deadly Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo were expected to begin next week.
"The trial will evaluate whether two antivirals, MBPC-134 and Remdesivir, can help to reduce mortality in patients" infected with the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola behind the current outbreak, whether used "alone, or in combination", WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters in Geneva.
